Let it all boil and stay in on Sundays for the next two months. It'll be worth it. Treat yourself to a little bit of Minnesota nice.
It may start like Coens fan-fiction, but Fargo showrunner Noah Hawley quickly proves he has moves of his own.
It's a perfect joy, and it's a good while since I set my digibox thing to "record whole series", but this promises phenomenally much.
The show may (inevitably) lack the somber beauty of the Coens' meticulous compositions, but it nonetheless makes for good-looking, borderline-cinematic television.
The new Fargo... seemed to be brimming with characters and stories all its own.
Audience Reviews for Fargo: Season 1
The Coen brothers adapt their Academy Award winning film Fargo into a black comedy?crime drama television series. In Season one a mild mannered insurance agent named Lester Nygaard murders his wife after a chance meeting with a hitman who's on his way to a job, but before long both the police and the mob are on their trails. Starring Billy Bob Thornton, Martin Freeman, Allison Tolman, and Colin Hanks, the series features an impressive cast. And the show does an extraordinary job at capturing the tone and spirit of the original film, and includes a number of homages and callbacks. The writing is also quite good, particularly the dialog, which has a real Coen brothers flare to it. Incredibly smart and full of thrills, Fargo proves to be a worthy successor to the film and delivers an extraordinary first season.
Slick, clever and violent, Fargo is a creative modern fable set in the universe of the film of the same name. It features a talented cast portraying the quirky characters as the characters try to unfold the mystery of a murder gone wrong.
