The continuing adventures of Piper (Taylor Schilling) and her Litchfield Penitentiary pals improve upon an excellent first season with an emphasis on thoroughly evil newcomer Vee.
... Orange Is the New Black is back (full season on Netflix Friday) with another 13 funny, disturbing and thought-provoking episodes.
Orange is the New Black proves women on TV don't have to be "strong" to be interesting - or entertaining.
Episode 1 of season 2 was a smart, successful premiere that does everything a good first installment should do, setting up the roadmap for the season to come.
From the glorious theme song to the closing credits, every hour is worth watching with anticipation. It was written to gobble up.
I scarfed the rest of the season down as if it were a sleeve of Thin Mints. No regrets. By the finale, Season 2 is stronger than Season 1, largely because it's more uncompromising about its characters, at once more nuanced and more damning.
Audience Reviews for Orange Is the New Black: Season 2
A perfectly paced progression on a grounded yet still interesting story.
Season 2 was as good as season 1, if not better. Piper remained in prison for more treats. New characters were introduced: Psychopathic Vee, hippie Asian Soso that created more drama. Old recurring characters got more roles in this season as we continue to discover their fascinating past. The only problem I had was that we were shown Piper's ex's entire love affair with Piper's best friend. Honestly, I don't care, it was stupid and completely irrelevant. Other than this minor frustration, season 2 of OITNB will not disappoint fans.
Season 2 of Orange is the New Black remains just as engrossing, funny and entertaining as it's previous season - and introduces a whole batch of new characters to love and get invested in.
