I believe all the hype. Everything that every person said...yes, this show is AWESOME.

Stranger Things is exactly what it intended to be, maybe more. It's a legitimate, validated story with quality film-making.

Stranger Things succeeds because it's not just getting by on pop-culture references, it's also working to subvert them in smart ways.

Where this approach falls down is when these references are no longer used as entertaining background details, but instead are swiped wholesale.

Empire Magazine

Stranger Things perfectly captures the moment between childhood and adolescence, when new friends and interests-and interest in new friends-can either make or break lifelong friendships.

Lainey Gossip

Stranger Things is weird, it's hyper-referential, and - for a touching coming-of-age story that's also a conspiracy thriller, a paranormal horror movie, and a nostalgic love letter to '80s cinema - it's really, really good.

Audience Reviews for Stranger Things: Season 1

On the whole, "Stranger Things" is on par with the post-season-one "Fringe" television series. It's got a good story and well-done sets, costumes and hair. Nice script and music. While the cast is hardly a tour de force, Ryder does a better than average job at portraying a desperate and frantic woman on the edge of sanity. It's a solid, entertaining series but it fails to capture the imagination with enthusiasm as one might expect from some of the over-hyped reviews.

One of the best new shows in 2016, Stranger Things started off slowly but quickly hooked me into its intriguing story line. Though the acting and writing were the best it still managed to be surprisingly entertaining.

This show is simply great. Easily the biggest and best Netflix TV Show ever made "Stranger Things" is so brilliant, bold, and well strange that it has and will continue to make waves in pop culture. I especially like how this TV Series is almost like a crime piece with all of its different angles and parts to it to develop a well thought out story. Very well done deserves its RT if not a little higher.

An amazing early 80s throwback, the screenplay and actors do an amazing job of conveying a sense of the time with references and feel in the show. I usually don't expect much from kid actors but all of the child actors here were amazing. Story hooks you pretty quick and after just 8 quick episodes, you definitely want more. I'd recommend this to anyone that has liked any or all of these: ET, The X-Files, Super 8, etc...
