In two separate scenes, there were spit takes. The timing, which used to feel quick and clever, felt creaky and canned. Even with Trump jokes galore, it wasn't edgy or unpredictable or lifelike, and it wasn't all that funny.
What will save this show and ensure people continue watching it is that the characters and the performers who create them are utterly brilliant.
Will & Grace proves that a good, old-school sitcom is still a worthy and engaging endeavor, depending ineffably on chemistry and timing.
Will & Grace may have affected social change more than a decade ago but it's obvious that the producers haven't a clue as to how to speak to where and who we are now in a way that's honest and refrains from seeming polarizing.
It's a pleasure to watch as the narrative focuses on the core foursome and their unusually delightful self-centered problem-solving skills.
